SWAT Team Surrounds Barricaded Gunman In Venice

Residents were advised to avoid a section of Venice Boulevard where a gunman is holed up Tuesday.

VENICE, CA — A Los Angeles police Department SWAT Team surrounded a gunman holed up in a Venice home Tuesday morning after he allegedly threatened a woman at his home.

The area around 900 block of Venice Boulevard was closed off while police attempt to negotiate with the man who walked in and out of the building during the hours-long standoff, according to police. The standoff ended when he surrendered to police. He was eventually arrested on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon.

During the standoff, at least two schools in the area placed students on voluntary lockdowns.
