The Argonaut Newspaper Bought by Southland Publishing

The local weekly newspaper is now owned by Southland Publishing, Inc.

The Argonaut newspaper covering Venice, Mar Vista and surrounding areas announced Thursday that it has been sold to Southland Publishing, Inc.

The local weekly newspaper was founded in 1971 and claims an audited print circulation of 30,000.

Launched as the Marina del Rey Argonaut, the paper expanded its coverage to include Playa del Rey, Venice, Santa Monica, Westchester, Los Angeles International Airport,  as well as the adjacent neighborhoods of Playa Vista and Mar Vista.

Southland Publishing oversees magazines, newspapers and websites in the Southern California region including The Pasadena Weekly, The Ventura County Reporter, San Diego CityBeat and Los Angeles CityBeat/ValleyBeat,  Arroyo Monthly, Life After 50 monthly and Culture Magazine.
