Two Shot, Killed, In Parking Lot At Whole Foods Venice

Police are looking for a suspect who shot and killed two people near a taco stand and parking lot outside Whole Foods and CVS in Venice.

VENICE, CA — Two men were killed in a shooting in the parking lot of a CVS Pharmacy and Whole Foods in Venice and the shooter was at large Tuesday morning.

The shooting occurred about 9:15 p.m. Monday in the parking lot in the 100 block of Lincoln Boulevard, near Commonwealth Avenue, according to Los Angeles Police Department Sgt. Scotty Stevens of the Pacific Community Police Station.

A motive for the shooting was unclear.

"Victim one and victim two were standing in the parking lot when a suspect approached on foot striking both victims," Officer Jader Chaves of Los Angeles Police Department told Patch.

The suspect fled the area northbound on Lincoln Boulevard, Chaves said.

It’s unknown if the shooting was gang-related and it’s unknown if both victims were people experiencing homelessness at the time, Chaves told Patch.

A detailed description of the shooter was not immediately available.

"We're trying to piece that together," LAPD Capt. Brian Morrison told NBC4. "We do understand that area businesses were open and we're seeking the public's help because we know there was a large crowd here."

A reader told Patch the shooting happened near a local taco stand at the parking lot.

Detectives were still investigating what happened early Tuesday, Chaves told Patch.
