Uber Driver Hospitalized in Venice Gang Shooting

An Uber driver was shot in the arm at the intersection of Lucille and Louella avenues.

The driver of an Uber car was hospitalized in stable condition after the vehicle was fired upon in a gang-related shooting in Venice, police said today.

The vehicle was shot at 3:50 p.m. Tuesday near the intersection of Lucille and Louella avenues in Venice, Los Angeles Police Department Lt. Daniel Gonzales said.

The driver was struck in the arm, the L.A. Weekly reported. He was released from the hospital later that day.

None of the passengers in the vehicle was injured, Gonzales said.

Officer Matthew Ludwig said the three passengers who had been picked up in the Venice beach area -- a female and two males -- were eventually booked on “weapons related charges.”

There were four to five suspects inside the silver or gold Kia Optima that pulled alongside the Uber vehicle and shot at the passengers.

None of the suspects has been found, Ludwig said.
