U.S. Goalkeeper Suspended After Former Seahawk Husband's DUI Arrest

Star Goaltender Hope Solo will miss two games for reportedly behaving belligerently during her NFL husband's DUI arrest in the South Bay.

Goalkeeper Hope Solo was hit with a 30-day suspension from the U.S. women’s soccer team today, two days after her husband was arrested for allegedly driving drunk in Manhattan Beach, with Solo in the passenger seat.

A statement from U.S. Soccer said only that the suspension “stems from an incident that occurred during the current WNT training camp being held in Carson, California.”

“During our current National Team camp, Hope made a poor decision that has resulted in a negative impact on U.S. Soccer and her teammates,” head coach Jill Ellis said. “We feel at this time it is best for her to step away from the team.”

The suspension means Solo will miss a Feb. 8 match in France and a Feb. 13 match in England.

Solo was not taken into custody when her husband -- former Seattle Seahawks tight end Jerramy Stevens -- was pulled over and arrested on suspicion of DUI. The arrest occurred around 1:30 a.m. Monday at 3501 N. Sepulveda Blvd., according to Manhattan Beach police.

The website TMZ reported that Solo, 33, used her cell phone to record the arrest and was belligerent with officers, nearly leading to a disorderly conduct arrest.

The Los Angeles Times reported that U.S. Soccer officials believe Solo showed poor judgment in getting in a car with an impaired driver and being out so late during training camp.
