Venice Shooting Victim Idenified

VENICE, CA - Authorities today identified a man who was shot and killed in Venice.

The crime occurred about 4 p.m. Wednesday near Seventh Avenue and Brooks Court, said Officer Norma Eisenman of the Los Angeles Police Department's Media Relations Section.

Marvin Ponce, 37, of San Fernando died at the scene, the coroner's office reported.

The suspect was described as a black man between 25 and 30 years old, who is 5-feet-8 to 5-feet-9 inches tall and was wearing a black hoodie, black sunglasses and black jeans, police said.
