Venice Arts Programs Receive County Grants
Four local organizations were among the 62 selected within the Third District that were awarded the County's Arts Commission Organizational Grant Program.

Four Venice arts-related organizations were awarded grants ranging from $10,000 to $50,000 as part of the L.A. County Arts Commission’s Organizational Grant Program. The 62 organizations throughout the County’s Third District were chosen by a panel of 80 comprised of artists, nonprofit art administrators and members of the academic community, according to a press release.
“These 62 County Arts Commission grantees showcase the incredible diversity in the Third District’s creative communities,” stated Supervisor Zev Yaroslavsky in a press release.

Beyond Baroque Foundation is a literary arts center “dedicated to expanding the knowledge of poetry, literature and art through cultural events and community interaction.” The foundation was awarded $10,100 to support ongoing programming of low-cost or free literary events and free writing workshops.
Electric Lodge Performing Arts Center, a “solar powered visual and performing arts center,” was awarded $15,100 to support a multidisciplinary performance season.

Pacific Resident Theatre is a “company founded by actors and dedicated to producing classics, rarely performed plays and the work of new writers.” The Theatre was awarded $23,200 to support artistic director and business manager salaries.
P.S. Arts whose mission is to “improve the lives of children by providing arts education to underserved public schools and communities” was awarded $52,100 to support the TakePART initiative.
