Venice Hit & Run Suspect Caught On Camera Tagging The Boardwalk

Police believe the two suspects, who killed a sleeping homeless man in a hit and run, were capture on camera tagging the Venice boardwalk.

VENICE, CA — Two men suspected of running over a sleeping homeless man in Venice last month, were captured on camera vandalizing a building on the boardwalk moments before the fatal hit and run, police announced Tuesday.

Eddie Davis, 35, was struck and killed at about 1:30 a.m. April 19 at the intersection of Wave Crest Avenue and Speedway, according to the Los Angeles Police Department. Police believe his killer was driving a black SUV with another man in the passenger's seat.

The security footage shows the two suspects on Ocean Front Walk, tagging a building with the word “TORE” or “TOBE.”

"They were seen applying graffiti with the word/name `TORE' or `TOBE,"' LAPD Officer Drake Madison said. "We are not releasing that video at this time."

Police believe the suspect was driving a 2002 GMC Yukon, blue in color with stock wheels. A reward of $50,000 is being offered to anyone who can provide information leading to the identification and conviction of the suspects.

Authorities have already released video footage of two men exiting the vehicle shortly after the hit and run. The SUV was traveling northbound on Speedway when it veered off the road striking Davis, while he was sleeping. The SUV driver fled the scene, heading southbound on Speedway. Davis died at the scene.

One suspect was described as a 5-foot, 11-inch tall white or Latino male about 30 to 35 years old and was last seen wearing a brown jacket, blue plaid shirt, dark blue jeans and tennis shoes.

The other suspect was described as a 5-foot, 6-foot inch tall Latino man, about 30 to 35 years old. He was last seen wearing a gray beanie, gray sweatshirt, dark pants and tennis shoes.
