Venice Pays Disproportionate Brunt of City's Street Sweeping Fines
LA Times reports that Venice is among the most ticketed neighborhood when it comes to street sweeping.

You don’t get to live in Venice without paying a price, and that cost is likely to include a $73 street sweeping ticket.
According to an interesting LA Times report examining the city’s street sweeping policies, residents and guests in Venice pay an inequitable proportion of the city’s $50 million in annual street sweeping fines.
It’s no secret that parking in Venice is in short supply, and residents who have limited street parking options are hit hard by the $73 street sweeping tickets.

The newspaper reported that Hollywood is the hardest hit of all the neighborhoods in LA along with North Hollywood, Venice and Koreatown. Hollywood accounts for more than 30,000 street sweeping tickets in a year, the Times reported.
City officials say they have to focus their street sweeping efforts on the most dense neighborhoods because of the heavy traffic. But the LA Times cites critics who call the explanation disingenuous. They argue that the policy is more about ticket revenue than keeping the streets clean because half of the city doesn’t even have street sweeping.
