Venice Tennis Makes City Section Playoffs
The Gondos are seventh in the Invitational division and host a first round match.
A committee of City Section coaches and administrators met Monday to choose which teams belong in the boys tennis playoffs and is one of the 16 squads selected for the Invitational bracket.
The Gondoliers, who finished fourth in the , are seeded seventh and will host 10th-seeded Verdugo Hills in the first round Wednesday at 1 p.m. Also qualifying from the Western League are , which is seeded No. 2 in the Invitational, No. 3 and 13th-seeded , which travels to No. 4 Granada Hills Kennedy.
If Venice prevails on Wednesday, it will either travel to Hamilton or host 15th-seeded Harbor City Narbonne in the quarterfinals Friday at 1 p.m. The semifinals are next Tuesday, May 10, at Encino and the finals are Thursday, May 12, at the same site.

Sun Valley Polytechnic is the No. 1 seed in the Invitational and is on the top half of the draw, meaning Venice would not face the Parrots until the finals.
As expected, Western League winner and defending City champion has been awarded the top seed in the 12-team City Championship draw. The Dolphins have a first-round bye, then host either No. 8 North Hollywood or No. 9 Carson in the quarterfinals Friday.

Singles and doubles draws for the have been reduced from 48 to 24 spots and seeding will be determined at the conclusion of the team playoffs.
