Wildwood Elementary Students Rally for Japan
As part of the school's unique community involvement team projects, Wildwood's children are raising funds to send to Japan via the Red Cross.

Last week, students took part in a campaign to raise money for the American Red Cross. The funds will then be used to help the victims of Japan’s earthquake and tsunami.
Wildwood’s 4th and 5th graders spent one day last week painting posters and learning what it means to provide aid to a country or people in need.
“The project is part of school’s Community Involvement Team project,” Wildwood’s Communications Director Jennifer Rowland told Mar Vista Patch. “The kids started the project with a brief lesson on what it means to provide aid and they learned about LiveAid and FarmAid among other efforts. Then they painted the signs that will be hung around the campus.”

School families who donate to the project will receive “gratitude cards” from 5th graders that will include Japanese: Domo arigato (thank you, friend), yujin, and Japan in Kangi script. The cards will be illustrated with cherry blossoms (Japan’s official flower), chrysanthemums (Japan’s crest), or designs of the students’ choice.
