Windward Softball Falls to Marymount
The Wildcats are held to two hits in a 4-1 non league loss at Penmar Park.
In an intriguing nonleague matchup Thursday, varsity softball team lost to host Marymount High 4-1 at Penmar Park.
The Wildcats managed just two hits and committed three errors but took a 1-0 lead in the top of the fifth inning. Marymount answered with three runs in the bottom of the frame and added an insurance run in the sixth.
Sophomore second baseman leads the Wildcats (4-2 overall, 1-0 in Alpha League) with a .500 batting average, senior shortstop has a .647 slugging percentage and senior pitcher has a 4-1 record with 32 strikeouts in 24 2/3 innings.

On Tuesday, Windward won its league opener 10-6 at Pasadena Marshall. Head coach 's club continues league action at 3:15 p.m. Friday in a battle for first place against Downey Calvary Chapel.

The Wildcats, who began the week ranked No. 3 behind Santa Monica and San Gabriel in the CIF Southern Section Division 4 poll, improved to 5-3 overall and 2-0 in the Alpha League with Tuesday's 25-22, 20-25, 11-25, 25-23, 15-13 over host Crossroads in Santa Monica.
Junior outside hitter had 12 kills, freshman setter added 11 and senior libero had 16 digs for the Wildcats, who travel to Calabasas for the Viewpoint Tournament on Saturday before resuming league play next Tuesday at Paraclete (4-7, 0-2).
Baseball
Having taken their lumps in nonleague play, the Wildcats routed Sierra Canyon 15-4 in their Delphic League opener on Tuesday in Chatsworth. It was a one-run game until the fourth inning when Windward plated six to take a commanding 11-4 lead. On Thursday, the Wildcats completed the sweep with a 12-2 win at Foley Field.
Windward (4-9 overall, 2-0 in league) is led by senior , who has a .400 batting average and sophomore , who has 11 hits, six runs scored and seven RBIs.
On Saturday, Windward hosts a noon showdown against New Roads (7-1), the No. 3-ranked team in this week's Southern Section Division 7 poll.
