Windward Stars Voted Players of the Year

The CIF released its All-Southern Section teams Thursday and Windward School basketball players Wesley Saunders, Imani Stafford and Jordin Canada have been named Players of the Year in Division 4AA and girls coach Steve Smith was voted Coach of the Year.

Saunders shared the honor with James Douglas of Orange Lutheran. Also making the boys' All-CIF squad was Wildcats junior Nick Stover. 

Stafford and Canada were co-Players of the Year for the girls and sophomore teammate Courtney Jaco also made the All-CIF team. 

Smith earned Coach of the Year honors after leading the Wildcats to the Southern Section Division 4AA and Southern California Regional titles. 

Both Windward teams will play for state Division IV championships Saturday morning at Power Balance Pavilion (formerly Arco Arena) in Sacramento.
