1. Senator Valladares Helps Secure More Than $10 Million in State Investments for Senate District 23 (ca.gov) — Victorville is set to receive $575,000 in state funding to improve the Civic Center Plaza as part of more than $10 million in investments across Senate District 23. The money will support storm repairs, park upgrades, fire station improvements, veterans' facilities, and small-business assistance throughout the High Desert and surrounding valleys.
2. 35-Year-Old Man Killed in Victorville Collision at Nisqualli Road and Eleventh Avenue (pacificattorneygroup.com) — A 35-year-old driver was killed and six people injured in a two-vehicle collision Sunday evening at Nisqualli Road and Eleventh Avenue in Victorville, closing nearby stretches of both roads for several hours. Victorville police, fire crews, and the Major Accident Investigation Team responded, and investigators are still working to determine exactly what led to the deadly broadsides crash.
3. Hispanic Heritage Celebration coming to Hesperia Lake Park (modbee.com) — Victorville-area residents can head to nearby Hesperia Lake Park on Oct. 10 for a free Hispanic Heritage Celebration featuring live bands, folklorico dancers, kids' activities, and food vendors, with parking at $10 per vehicle. The afternoon event, organized with the Hesperia Recreation and Park District, highlights Latino culture and traditions during National Hispanic Heritage Month.
4. Suspect arrested following Hesperia residential robbery, police chase (modbee.com) — A Victorville man was arrested after deputies say he robbed an acquaintance at gunpoint in a Hesperia neighborhood, stole the victim's SUV, and led a high-speed pursuit through Apple Valley before being caught near Highway 18 and Jicarilla Road. The 42-year-old Victorville resident is being held without bail on robbery, vehicle theft, evading, and probation violation allegations.
5. Traffic stop leads to drug bust in Big Bear, Hesperia ex-con jailed (modbee.com) — A Hesperia man with prior convictions was arrested after a Big Bear traffic stop led deputies to a loaded handgun, suspected methamphetamine, various pills, heroin, mushrooms, and cash. The San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department says he faces multiple drug and firearm charges and is being held without bail pending a court appearance, a reminder of ongoing regional drug enforcement near Victorville.
