16 Couples To Wed Atop Mount Diablo

The destination weddings are set for Friday at the summit, the Contra Costa Clerk-Recorder's Office announced.

CONTRA COSTA COUNTY, CA — Sixteen marriage ceremonies will be performed Friday atop Mount Diablo by the Contra Costa Clerk-Recorder’s Office, in partnership with the California Department of State Parks.

The "Destination Weddings" are set to take place between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. Friday at the summit, with county staff acting as officiants as the couples say "I do."

Couples may have up to 30 guests, but there is limited seating available during the ceremony (16 chairs), the Clerk-Recorder's Office said.

Mount Diablo State Park is one of several beautiful and historic sites in Contra Costa County. Elevation at the peak is 3,849 feet and is surrounded by low, rolling hills and broad, flat valleys, so the view from the top is remarkable and affords spectacular opportunities for pictures. When conditions are best, one can see almost 200 miles.
