Mid-Air Collision Miracle: 2 Glider Pilots Survive
The crash happened earlier this month.

WALNUT CREEK, CA — Two glider pilots survived a mid-air collision over Mount Diablo State Park on Nov. 7, according to Contra Costa County Sheriff David Livingston.
The glider pilots are from Livermore and Palo Alto.
In a social media post on Monday, the sheriff congratulated his staff for their role in saving the pilots, "Nice job by Sheriff's Office STARR 3 helicopter for rescuing a glider pilot after a mid air collision on Mt. Diablo earlier this month. STARR 3 was first on scene and located the pilots. One of them was short hauled by STARR 3 to awaiting medical units."

The collision happened during the noon hour, according to a statement from Federal Aviation Administration spokesman Ian Gregor.
