Department officials said both officers arrive with field experience, allowing them immediately begin patrol operations.

Due to retirements and departures, the Walnut Creek Police Department mid-2025 was short of the 85 authorized sworn positions. The city implemented faster hiring, while City Council approved maintaining 11 percent staff vacancies and a 5 percent police salary increase through 2026-2027 to stabilize the budget and workforce, according to reports.
