WALNUT CREEK, CA —Walnut Creek Police Department swore in two new officers this week, formally adding experienced law enforcement personnel despite
Officer Jordan Alvarenga and Officer Mike Wilson took the oath of office and officially joined the department after serving with other agencies. The hires mark a strategic move to bring in trained officers who can transition quickly into active duty roles.
Department officials said both officers arrive with field experience, allowing them immediately begin patrol operations.
Due to retirements and departures, the Walnut Creek Police Department mid-2025 was short of the 85 authorized sworn positions. The city implemented faster hiring, while City Council approved maintaining 11 percent staff vacancies and a 5 percent police salary increase through 2026-2027 to stabilize the budget and workforce, according to reports.
Information about the new officers was not immediately available but will be updated.
