WALNUT CREEK, CA — A Bay Area ramen company is adding Walnut Creek to its California footprint, bringing Tonkotsu broth, noodles, and a Japanese menu to downtown diners.
Marufuku Ramen will in two weeks, marking the company’s latest Bay Area expansion.
Co-founder Eiichi Mochizuki said the company wants to introduce Walnut Creek diners to a Japanese ramen experience centered on traditional preparation, quality ingredients, and hospitality.
The restaurant built its reputation on Hakata-style Tonkotsu ramen, featuring a slow-cooked pork bone broth that the company said is designed to produce a rich, creamy texture, and deep umami flavor. The menu also includes ultra-thin noodles, pork cha-shu, izakaya-style appetizers, and premium sake selections.
The Walnut Creek restaurant will expand beyond ramen with yakitori, exclusive Wagyu dishes, and signature cocktails.
The Walnut Creek location opening May 27 includes indoor dining and a large outdoor patio for lunch crowds, dinner service, and evening gatherings.
Founded in San Francisco’s Japantown, Marufuku Ramen now operates in California, Nevada, Texas and New York, including restaurants in Oakland, Redwood City, Cupertino, Irvine, San Diego, Las Vegas, Austin and New York City.
The Walnut Creek restaurant will operate Monday-Friday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., and 5 p.m. to 9 p.m., with service from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. on weekends.
Before Marufuku Ramen, the address was occupied by Extreme Pizza.
