Planning Commission Debates Rentals, Alcohol Hours Expansion (patch.com) — Walnut Creek’s Planning Commission is set to debate two short-term rental proposals in residential neighborhoods and a later alcohol cutoff time for Daryoush restaurant on Locust Street. Neighbors near Mandarin Lane are pushing back over safety and neighborhood character, while police report no issues with the downtown restaurant as officials weigh its request for extended indoor alcohol service hours.

3. Revered East Bay school for future ballet stars eyes next chapter (eastbaytimes.com) — Walnut Creek’s longtime Contra Costa Ballet Centre is closing after six decades, but its North Broadway studio will soon be home to the new Orza Academy of Ballet.
