WALNUT CREEK, CA — California-based fast-casual restaurant chain MIXT will open its newest location Tuesday at 1105 S. California Blvd. in Walnut Creek, occupying the former Genova Delicatessen space.
The Walnut Creek restaurant is the most recent of the company's nearly two dozen locations and expands its East Bay footprint, joining existing sites in Berkeley and Oakland.
MIXT announced the opening on social media after first revealing plans for the location earlier this year.
Founded in 2006 by Leslie and David Silverglide, MIXT first opened in San Francisco's Financial District.
The menu includes a grab-and-go style menu of salads, grain bowls, and sandwiches, including the Valkyries 2.0 Salad, developed in partnership with the Golden State Valkyries.
MIXT in Walnut Creek has scheduled several opening-week activities and limited giveaways:
• Tuesday — The first 100 customers placing in-person orders will receive a canvas tote bag and may personalize it at a decorating station.
• Wednesday — Customers may receive discounts and giveaway items through partnerships with neighboring businesses Beyond Yoga, Changes Salon, and TruFusion.
• Thursday — The first 100 customers who purchase an entrée in person will receive a bamboo salad serving set.
• Friday — Beginning at noon, the restaurant will offer samples of its Valkyries Agua Fresca beverage and distribute Valkyries-themed stickers while supplies last.
• Saturday — Sloat Garden Center will host a children's planting activity from noon to 3 p.m. The restaurant also will offer one free kids' meal with the purchase of an adult entrée.
• Sunday — Beginning at 1:30 p.m., the first 50 customers who purchase an entrée in person will receive a complimentary scoop of ice cream from Lottie's Creamery while supplies last.
