WALNUT CREEK, CA — A vacant downtown restaurant space that has prompted months of speculation appears headed for a new chapter.
State filings show a business called Salt & Lime is seeking to open at 1521 N. Main St., the former home of Oyama Sushi.
Records filed with the California Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control show DTV Corp. applied June 30 to transfer a Type 47 liquor license to the North Main Street address.
That license authorizes the sale of beer, wine, and distilled spirits for on-site consumption, pointing to a full-service restaurant with a bar rather than a quick-service eatery.
Salt & Lime's license application is under review, and no opening date has been posted, the Bay Area Telegraph originally reported.
Within a two- to three-block walk of 1521 N. Main St., there are roughly 20–25 restaurants that serve dinner. More than half have full bars, cocktail programs, wine bars, or breweries.
Walnut Creek Downtown itself has more than 120 food and drink establishments, making it one of the East Bay's largest dining districts.
Salt & Lime's ownership is already part of that restaurant scene. Saul David Tallarico is listed as DTV Corp.'s chief executive officer and Antone Sean Dudum as the chief financial officer, with both listed as shareholders.
Dudum is also publicly associated with neighboring 1515 Restaurant & Lounge, located immediately next door.
If the project moves forward, the operators would oversee two side-by-side restaurant concepts along one of downtown's busiest dining blocks.
