New Shop Opening In Walnut Creek Is Piercing: Reports

The ear-piercing studio plans a Broadway Plaza location offering nurse-performed piercings and hypoallergenic jewelry to customers.

WALNUT CREEK, CA — Rowan, an ear-piercing studio and jewelry brand that uses licensed nurses to perform piercings, is preparing to open a new location at Broadway Plaza.

The studio is expected to open at 146 Broadway Lane, in the former home of Aveda.

Broadway Plaza lists Rowan as "Coming Soon" on the website.

The studio will join Sephora, Nordstrom, Garage, Padis Jewelry, and ring of other stores.

Rowan was founded by Louisa Schneider, who developed the company after researching where to have her daughter's ears pierced, according to the company website.

The company seeks to distinguish itself from traditional piercing studios by using licensed nurses to perform piercings and operating under clinical standards developed with guidance from a medical advisory board.

Rowan offers lobe and cartilage piercings for customers ranging from infants to adults. Nurses use either a hand-pressured piercing device with pre-sterilized earrings or a hollow needle rather than a spring-loaded piercing gun, according to the company.

The company also sells hypoallergenic, nickel-free jewelry made from materials including titanium, sterling silver, and 14-karat gold.

The company has not announced an exact opening date for the Walnut Creek location.
