Armed Felon Arrested At Homeless Camp In Walnut Creek

Police say Earl Romiti​ was at an illegal homeless camp that officers checked.

WALNUT CREEK, CA — A man has been arrested in Walnut Creek for being a felon in possession of a firearm, a felon in possession of ammunition, illegal lodging, and possession of drug paraphernalia, according to Walnut Creek Police. Earl Romiti was booked into county jail.

The Walnut Creek PoliceDepartment Homeless Outreach Program Team checked an encampment in the area of 1900 Tice Valley Boulevard, near Rossmoor Shopping Center. Romiti was staying in the illegal encampment.

WCPS says that when the officers announced their presence, Romiti quickly hid something between his legs. The officers located a handgun, a bullet, and drug paraphernalia on Romiti, they say.
