Around the Creek: Giants Fever Jams BART

More news, useful tidbits and random tales of what's happening in and around Walnut Creek.

Everyone had a touch of Giants fever on Wednesday, including the folks at the Pleasant Hill BART station. Inundated by throngs -- not thongs, throngs -- of eager Giants fans heading to San Francisco for the victory parade, the station agents opened the gates, and the thousand or so fans stormed to the platform. Still, lines to go up the escalator snaked around the station, and hundreds of people jammed the train cars until there was no room to breathe. In fact, the 9:45 a.m. train was so full by the time it made it to the Lafayette station, that other riders weren't letting anyone else onto the trains. It was, in a word, torture. And the fans wouldn't have it any other way.
