It's 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday along the sidewalks of Cypress, Locust and North Main streets between Mount Diablo Boulevard and Civic Drive. The Diablo Symphony concludes its 63rd season with a performance of Dmitri Shostakovich’s Symphony No. 5 on Sunday, May 17 at 2:00 p.m., at the Lesher Center for the Arts. The difficulties under which Shostakovich (by then under condemnation by Stalin’s regime) composed in 1937 permeate the deep and complex emotions of this extraordinary work. The program also features works by two American composers—Aaron Copland and Daniel Pesca—that celebrate the joys and bravery of everyday existence. Composed in 1942, in response to the U.S. entry into World War II, Copland’s "Fanfare for the Common Man” pays tribute to the heroism of the common person on the home front. And, in this west coast premiere of Pesca’s “Up North” piano concerto—performed by the composer—listeners will be transported by musically depicted moments of cheer, nostalgia, charm, and the warmth of family remembered from childhood trips taken from Alabama up to Northern Michigan each summer. With these three works, performed side-by-side under the direction of conductor Matilda Hofman, the program explores the entire gamut of human emotions. Tickets can be purchased in advance at the Lesher Center box office (925-943-7469, Wednesday–Sunday, 12:00 p.m.–6:00 p.m.) or through the DSO’s website, diablosymphony.org. Adult tickets are $45, and youth tickets are $15. A discount for senior groups of 10 or more is available, and children 12 and under are free but need a ticket to have a seat. Tickets will also be available at the door.

St Paul's Episcopal Church

St. Paul's Concert Series is delighted to present Dr. Natalie Chan Ning, in a spectacular pipe organ performance on Sunday, May 17 at 3pm. Dr. Ning holds the Doctor of Musical Arts (DMA) from the University of Southern California, where she pursued advanced studies in organ performance and choral music. Performing on St. Paul’s celebrated Schlicker two-manual pipe organ, Dr. Ning will present a dynamic program ranging from classical masterworks to modern compositions—music of lyrical simplicity and grand, multi-layered textures that transforms the very space into sound. On Sunday there is a special Family Dance Party
from 5-7pm during extended KidFest hours. DJ Dave and FUNKMODE will perform and lead the audience of all ages with music from Taylor Swift, Bruno Mars, Michael Jackson, Pitbull, Rolling Stones, Journey and more. A special $25 Family Ticket (for up to 4 admissions) goes on sale at 5pm Sunday.
For the 15th year, KidFest presents a special Memorial Day ceremony at noon Monday, May 25, Mt. Diablo High School Jr. ROTC color guard and songs honoring America's service people past and present with vocalist Elizabeth Martine.

Admission tickets, ride wristbands and ride tickets go on sale each day of KidFest starting at 9:45am. Admission is just $9 with a donation of canned food to the Monument Crisis Center or $10 without can donation.
On Sunday, May 24, we celebrate our collaboration for food donations through Monument Crisis Center with DOUBLE CAN DAY. A person donating 2 canned goods on Sunday gets $2 off their admission. A family of 4 bringing 8 cans will save a total of $8 off their admission ticket purchase.
Babies under 24 months and seniors 65+ are always free.
Proceeds from Bay Area KidFest benefit local educational, health and sports groups, which have received over $125,000 in cash donations from producer Bay Area Festivals since 2010.
The first 500 families through the Pavilion gate each morning at KidFest receive a free KidFest Goody Bag.
Tickets for admission and rides are always available at the door during KidFest. On-site vehicle parking is $10.
