Assistance League’s Operation School Bell Welcomes Martinez Refinery
When community-minded organizations jointly help children make decisions, success results!

Assistance League® Diablo Valley’s Operation School Bell®-Clothing is a nationally acclaimed, hands-on philanthropic program that has served school students in our community since 1994. Its rationale: If children do not feel comfortable in their attire, they do not attend to the learning task. In recent years, the program has expanded to meet the growing needs of the community.
Since 2006, Assistance League Diablo Valley has enjoyed Community Partners hands-on involvement and financial support to improve lives in our community. Martinez Refinery employee volunteers have not only lent their emotional and educational support by reading to students in the Martinez Unified School District's classrooms, they have enthusiastically become hands-on involved in Operation School Bell-Clothing events by serving as personal shoppers. On Wednesday, October 9, they helped elementary schoolchildren select clothes that would result in success. As the happy youngsters headed for home, plans as to what to wear to school the following day were in the making.
Money raised at Assistance League Thrift Shop in Lafayette financed this endeavor. To learn about all of Assistance League of Diablo Valley’s 15 philanthropic programs, please visit: assistanceleague.org/diablo-valley.
