Assistance League of Diablo Valley is a nonprofit, member volunteer organization dedicated to improving lives in our community through hands-on programs.

Launched in October of 2019, Assistance League® of Diablo Valley’s Sunshine Boxes is a philanthropic program in the Operation School Bell® Focus Area. Presently, it provides shelf stable food for identified students at Heights Elementary School, in the Pittsburg Unified School District. Additionally, Sunshine Boxes’ goal is to supplement weekend food needs for students who qualify for free or reduced cost meals during the week.

Sunshine Boxes contain healthy shelf stable foods such as fruit, cereal, macaroni and cheese, peanut butter and beef jerky. Initial deliveries are made to a participating school on a bi-weekly basis. The value of each box is approximately $13, a wise investment whose return to the community does not merely double, it compounds.
