Assistance League Way Side Inn Thrift Shop's "Fangtastic Hallooooween" Haunts the Valley!

The “dead-icated” member volunteers at Assistance League® Way Side Inn Thrift Shop, located at 3521 Golden Gate Way, in Lafayette, caution you that this year’s “Fangtastic Hallooooween” Merchandise and Costumes event will pulsate with fear and foreboding. Write this date down (not necessarily in blood): Tuesday, September 29, 10 AM sharp. You’ll want to get “a head” of the crowd with an early, as in “the “creak of dawn” early, for this one-stop shopping encounter. Legend has it that one poor inhabitant of the valley did not heed this advice; she just didn’t have her heart in it, a grave situation, in deed!

Not to worry—gruesome festivities await. Pumpkin lovers will delight in the selection of hand blown glass, metal and ceramic “goreds.” Themed lights, hanging witches (not necessarily by design), spiders and skeletons will beckon from on high to cats, rats and bats cowering in dark corners. You’ll want to invite fiends in for a bite and perhaps a vial of “ghoul aid.” Fortuitously, you’ll unearth paper goods, centerpieces, candles, jack-o’-lanterns and platters to create that much sought after crypt-like ambience. (Regrettably, last year’s lady fingers did not freeze at all well.)

Of course, you’ll want to save some of your strength to select that perfect Halloween costume. Furry recreations of the animal kingdom seem to have effortlessly overtaken the thrift shop. On a lighter note, boldly colored action figure costumes will offer safe journey on this most eerie of evenings. As for a more visceral approach, you will strike terror in the hearts of all who have the misfortune of crossing your path as wolves (or the neighbor’s dogs) howling at the moon accost their ears. Or you could find that overlooked get up that urges you just to go out and “boogie” the night away. You’ll agree that this is a four-quarters-in-the-meter occasion; see you at the thrift shop.
