WALNUT CREEK, CA — Most baby animals are adorable, even the ones that grow up to be so ugly they're cute.
But a baby gray fox born in a backyard near Walnut Creek, featured in a story by San Francisco Chronicle outdoors writer Tom Stienstra, truly wins the gene pool lottery. The little one's big eyes, sharp markings, and perfectly sized nose and ears add up to irresistible cuteness.
This particular fox was born in the same culvert that his momma has used for five years, behavior typical in wildlife.
