BOTANICA: All Things Plant Life In Walnut Creek

BOTANICA, a national juried exhibition of diverse plant life themes, opens at the Bedford Gallery July 12 with a reception from 3-5pm.

From 16th Century Flemish painters, to Cézanne and the Post Impressionists, the color, variety, and potent symbolism found in plant life has made it a popular subject for still-lifes and artist studies. Botanica: All Things Plant Life features a roster of over 100 artists drawing on these themes to create artwork that explores how plant life can be represented in a diverse reach of media.

The exhibition was juried by Ken Harman of Hashimoto Contemporary and Spoke Art in San Francisco and MacKenzie Stevens of the Hammer Museum in Los Angeles.
