Update on Parking at Avalon Bay

Update on the parking problems at Avalon Bay.

My post about the parking problems at Avalon Bay and the potential collateral damage to businesses there has born some fruit. Although, except for special events, there currently remains a 2 hour limit for inside parking, as well as for on-street parking, the parking administration will not penalize those who move their vehicles within that 2-hour window (from inside to outside, or vice versa).

Furthermore, inside parking past 6 P.M. will not be metered. In addition, some of the side-streets, notably Sunne Lane, are not metered after 6 P.M. (Treat Blvd. remains metered until after 10 P.M.) The parking administration has also indicated that once meters are installed for inside parking, customers will be able to remain in one spot without having to interrupt their business and move their vehicle.

This is a positive indication that Avalon Bay parking and the tenant businesses are serious about attracting business to the Contra Costa Transit Village. If you were, in any way, dissuaded from doing business there, I can now again recommend this location, and especially Third Workplace as a welcome alternate to an ugly and time-consuming commute.
