The biggest payout in US history was a Powerball jackpot that swelled to $1.6 billion. There were three winning tickets for the Jan. 13, 2016 drawing - one in California claimed by Marvin and Mae Acosta. The other winners were Maureen Smith of Florida, and John and Lisa Robinson of Tennessee.
