Patch asked readers if they'd support a Contra Costa County ban on plastic bags such as that just approved for Alameda County. As of 5:20 p.m. Thursday, 77 readers said no and 73 said yes.
goes into effect Jan. 1, 2013. Recycled-content paper and reusable bags could be provided by retailers, but only at a minimum cost of 10 cents a bag to customers.
