The Walnut Festival Association presents the 78th annual Walnut Festival – “Celebrating 78 Years of Community” with a celebration of arts, crafts, music, fun, and food. The four-day Festival offers family-friendly entertainment, two stages of live music, a large carnival with more than 30 rides, Kid Zone, a showcase of amazing local and regional talent including artists, craftsmen, designers, jewelers, builders, food specialties, craft beer garden, and more.

When:

Saturday, September 19, 6 p.m. features a free Twilight Parade on Main Street through downtown Walnut Creek.

Thursday, September 24; 5 to 10 p.m.

Friday, September 25; 5 to 11 p.m.

Saturday, September 26; 11 a.m. to 11 p.m.; free fishing in the lake, 7 to 11 a.m.

Sunday, September 27; 11 a.m. to 8 p.m.; free fishing in the lake, 7 to 11 a.m.

Where: Heather Farm Park, Walnut Creek, CA.

Festival Admission: $7 per person; $1 off per ticket when guest brings a can of food to donate to the Contra Costa Food Bank; free for active military with valid identification, seniors and for children under five with paid adult admission. Food and beverage, games, rides and parking not included in admission price. Parking costs $5 per vehicle.

Special prices: “Pay One Price” ride bracelets, providing full access to all the Festival’s carnival rides without purchasing individual tickets, will be available. Admission and advance sale bracelets are available at www.thewalnutfestival.org.

About The Walnut Festival: The first Walnut Festival held in 1911 was a celebration of the harvest of grapes and was called The Grape Festival. During prohibition, grapes were replaced with walnuts as the cash crop of the area and vineyards became walnut groves. In 1936, the harvest celebration became known as The Walnut Festival. The Walnut Festival Association, a 501c non-profit, was officially incorporated in 1938 and except for a suspended period during World War II, has been celebrated as the popular annual community event it remains today.
