Crash Into Pacheco Power Pole Knocks Out Power For Thousands Saturday
One arrested in connection with the incident.

One person was arrested after a car crashed into a power pole in Pacheco this morning and initially knocked out power for thousands of PG&E customers in Contra Costa County, according to California Highway Patrol and utility officials.
Officers responded to a report of a car that crashed into a pole and power lines down in the 5500 block of Pacheco Boulevard just north of Aspen Drive around 10:50 a.m., CHP Officer John Fransen said.
The crash led to a power outage that at first disrupted service for 3,700 customers, PG&E spokesman J.D. Guidi said.

The vehicle, a champagne-colored Mazda 6, was reported stolen by a female who said her brother took her keys, Fransen said.
Witnesses reported multiple people stepping out of the car after the crash, according to Fransen. One of the vehicle’s occupants was arrested, but Fransen did not have further details on the person’s identity and what they were arrested for.

The outage initially impacted customers in portions of Martinez, Pleasant Hill, Pacheco and Concord, Guidi said. As of about 12:50 p.m., power was restored to all but 330 customers in Pacheco, according to Guidi.
There is no estimated time of when service will be restored to the remaining customers, Guidi said. Crews from the Contra Costa County Fire Protection District responded to the scene but no one was transported to a hospital, a fire dispatcher said.
