CSAA Insurance Group Employee Named 2020 Volunteer of the Year
Roger Hancock, community affairs manager for CSAA Insurance Group, was named a 2020 Volunteer of the Year by Junior Achievement
Roger Hancock, community affairs manager for CSAA Insurance Group, was named a 2020 Volunteer of the Year by Junior Achievement of Northern California (JA). Hancock was honored for more than 35 years of volunteer service, including managing employee and corporate volunteer programs benefiting JA.
“CSAA Insurance Group is dedicated to serving AAA members while building stronger, safer communities,” said Hancock. “It is truly a privilege to channel this commitment into supporting the important work of Junior Achievement, which is devoted to ensuring the success of future generations.”
The annual JA NorCal Educator and Volunteer of the Year Awards recognize exemplary contributions made to inspire and prepare young people to succeed in a global economy. The passion and commitment of the awardees enables JA to deliver kindergarten through high school programs across Northern and Central California. Together, JA volunteers deliver JA curriculum with partner JA educators to provide innovative, hands-on work readiness, entrepreneurship and financial literacy education to more than 90,000 students in Northern California each year.

“Junior Achievement volunteers and educators help build communities by empowering the next generation’s success,” said JA Northern California Board Chair Adrian Dimech, VP Field Operations – West at AT&T. "JA could not exist without the dedication of its volunteers and educators. We are grateful for this opportunity to recognize their invaluable support."
Hancock joined CSAA Insurance Group in 2003, and has led Corporate Social Responsibility programs since 1985. Last year, more than 3,500 CSAA Insurance Group employees volunteered 44,672 hours at 515 events across the country, representing approximately $1.13 million of employee hours. For the past two years, 100% percent of CSAA Insurance Group’s employees volunteered on behalf of community needs, earning the company recognition from Points of Light as one of the country’s top 50 civic-minded companies.

Prior to managing the AAA Volunteers program, Hancock was Vice President for Community Relations at Bank of America, where he increased employee and retiree volunteerism by 600%, and was responsible for successfully integrating community service, corporate volunteer and community education programs in the largest two bank mergers in history.
