CSAA Insurance Group Wins Two California HR Excellence Awards

AAA Insurer Joins Winner's Circle in Two Categories: Best Diversity and Inclusion Initiative and Best Wellness Program

On March 24, CSAA Insurance Group announced it has been honored with 2020 California HR Excellence Awards in two categories: Best Diversity and Inclusion Initiative and Best Wellness Program.

The California HR Excellence Awards from HR.com and HR West recognize companies and individuals across the entire spectrum of human resources and celebrate successes in HR. The awards distinguish leadership, service, innovation, support and principle, all of which continuously drive the HR industry forward. Winners were announced and awarded earlier this month at the 2020 HR West Conference, a leading conference in California for HR professionals.

“We’re honored to be recognized by our peers in the HR community, especially in an area that’s so vital to who we are as a company,” said Melissa Jones, executive vice president and chief human resources officer. “A strong company culture doesn’t happen by chance. It has to be intentional and human-centered, based on shared values, leadership and a well-integrated plan. We’re passionate about creating an empowering work environment, and that informs everything we do.”

Best Diversity and Inclusion Initiative

CSAA Insurance Group won in the Best Diversity and Inclusion Initiative category for its Inclusion & Belonging learning program. The program envisions an end-to-end workplace experience – from meeting with candidates, through hiring, engaging and developing employees throughout their careers.

“We realized that key concepts of a diverse and inclusive culture could be more impactful if we reinforced them across the employee experience,” said Esayas Wureta, Inclusion and Belonging manager. “With an important cultural goal being to foster a workplace in which all employees can bring their whole selves to work and feel a deep sense of belonging, we created an approach that touches key points of the employee learning experience: an Inclusion & Belonging, Learning & Development Roadmap.”

Best Wellness Program

The company’s award-winning wellness program is designed to create and reinforce a healthy and productive work environment for employees. Components of the program include onsite wellness coordinators across office locations, free onsite fitness classes, free annual biometric screening, and 100% paid preventive care through its health plans. The company makes contributions to a Health Savings Account (HSA) or Health Reimbursement Arrangement (HRA) for employees who participate in health-related programs, such as preventative screenings, verified workouts, disease management programs, and volunteer activities. Employees also receive discounts on healthy food and drink options in locations with company cafeterias.
