Deadline Nearing For Community Development Block Grant Applications In Walnut Creek
The city has nearly $167,000 for distribution.

WALNUT CREEK, CA – News from the City of Walnut Creek:
The City of Walnut Creek has an estimated $166,924 in Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funds available for fiscal year 2017-2018 and is seeking funding applications from local organizations by April 27, 2017 for Infrastructure and Public Facilities projects.
The CDBG program is funded by the federal government through the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). The primary objective of this program is to help develop viable urban communities through the provision of decent housing, a suitable living environment, and economic opportunity, principally for low- and moderate-income persons.

Infrastructure and Public Facilities projects can include acquisition, construction, and rehabilitation of public facilities or infrastructure that primarily benefit low- and moderate-income residents or neighborhoods. Proposals for the removal of barriers that restrict the mobility of handicapped persons and improve accessibility are also eligible.
Applications must be submitted electronically by 5:00 PM on April 27, 2017. Application guidelines and the notice of funding availability are available on the City’s website at www.walnut-creek.org/housing.
