Delivery Robot Demo At City Hall Tuesday

You could find yourself sharing a sidewalk with robots in downtown Walnut Creek in the near future.

WALNUT CREEK, CA — How do you feel about delivery robots running around on the sidewalks of Walnut Creek?

You can see for yourself how they work at a live demo at the July 18 City Council meeting. Councilmembers are considering whether the company behind the robots, Starship Technologies, will be given the go-ahead to deploy them downtown.

The self-driving robots will deliver food or other goods. They move at pedestrian speed, navigate around objects and people, and weigh no more than 40 pounds fully loaded.
