Diablo Ballet Announces Celebrated Masters featuring works by Val Caniparoli, Trey McIntyre, and Robert Dekkers May 8 and 9, 2015
Diablo Ballet’s 21st Season continues with Celebrated Masters May 8-9, 2015 at the Del Valle Theatre in Walnut Creek. The performances, which places the audience within close proximity of the stage, features live music and a lively, interactive Q&A with the dancers hosted by local celebrity moderators.
A reception with tasty dessert delicacies and Peet’s Coffee is served with the opportunity for the audience members to get up close and personal with the artists.
A wide range of both classical and contemporary works will be presented as part of the series including the Diablo Ballet Premiere of Just by renowned choreographer Trey McIntyre and praised by the Oregon press as “drop-dead gorgeous”, the electrifying duet from Book of Alleged Dances by Val Caniparoli, which premiered in 1998 by Ballet West, a new spellbinding work, Do Be: Double Happiness, by Robert Dekkers, set to an original score by Brooklyn-based composer Chris Cerrone –a 2014 Pulitzer Prize finalist in music, performed live by guitarist and percussion duo, The Living Earth Show and the the romantic wedding pas de deux from Coppelia.
