Downtown Police Patrols Added To Thwart Street Crime In Walnut Creek

WALNUT CREEK, CA — The Walnut Creek Police Department is amping up officer presence in the downtown area due to an increase in street robberies, the department said.

Police are seeing an uptick in street crime and logged three cases this summer where victims were robbed of "high-end" jewelry, officials said.

"In response to these brazen crimes, Walnut Creek Police Department has added patrol shifts and increased officer presence through additional vehicle and foot patrols downtown," the agency said.

Street robberies are on the rise in many Bay Area cities, according to authorities, adding, "Walnut Creek is not immune."

Police reminded residents, that while Walnut Creek "remains a safe place to live, work or visit," anyone who see suspicious activity should call 911 in an emergency or 925-935-6400 for non-emergency calls.
