East Bay Animal Doc In Running For 'America's Top Vet'

Vote for Dr. Erin Troy, of Muller Veterinary Hospital, Walnut Creek, one of 20 finalists nationwide for America's Favorite Veterinarian!

Dr. Erin Troy of Muller Veterinary Hospital in Walnut Creek is one of 20 finalists nationwide to be America’s Favorite Veterinarian, a contest sponsored by the American Veterinary Medical Foundation.

She was selected from 700 nominations for this esteemed honor, and the East Bay community can make her a hometown hero by voting online!

Dr. Troy, is not only a fabulous veterinarian, but also a leading expert in animal rehabilitation and pain management, and runs both a full- service veterinary hospital, and The Canine Rehabilitation Center, a place dedicated to helping animals recover from surgery, injuries or who are suffering with chronic pain.

With her focus on pain management and rehabilitation, Dr. Troy really fights for the “under dog” and is able to give pets that otherwise would have been put to sleep, a true second chance to live quality, pain free lives.

Dr. Troy frequently donates her time and is very active in the community as a FEMA USAR TF 4 veterinarian managing the health of the team canines and teaching the handlers triage, first aid, CPR and conditioning. She volunteers as a lecturer for Cover Your K9, a non-profit organization that raises funds to support the needs of local, state and federal police and working canines including providing protective vests and heat sensors for officers’ cars.

Dr. Troy founded Fire Fighters Save Pets, an organization that raised money to put portable CPR kits on Bay Area fire trucks, and she personally provided training to firefighters on how to save the lives of the animals they rescue.

She and her hospital team participate in various events for ARF, Dogs for Diabetics, and Canine Companions for Independence, providing community outreach and education.

Already a strong female role model, Dr. Troy has also participated in the Expand Your Horizons Program at Diablo Valley College which encourages young girls to have an interest in the sciences. And she has spoken about and provided training on pet First Aid to numerous community groups.

In order for her to win, the public is asked to vote daily -- through August 30 -- on the www.Americasfavoriteveterinarian.org website, or at www.Mullerveterinaryhospital.com and follow links.

If she wins, Dr. Troy would like to use this national platform to raise awareness about treating and rehabilitating acute and chronic pain in pets.
