Is This East Bay Wine Tasting Room One Of The Best In Country?

ALAMEDA, CA — Forget Napa and San Francisco. Craving a great wine experience? Head to Alameda!

USA Today is in the midst of voting in its annual Reader's Choice Awards. In the category of Favorite Tasting Room are 20 nominees chosen by a panel of wine experts. A full 14 of them are in California, with Napa well represented. But making a surprise appearance is an East Bay entry, Building 43 Winery in Alameda.

The nomination reads, "The pet-friendly tasting room at Building 43 Winery in Alameda is housed within a historic Naval Aviation EOD locker adorned with wine barrels and military memorabilia. Visitors can sip from the comport of couches and upholstered chairs, and the winery stays open late on Fridays."

Building 43 Winery is currently number 8 in polling, but can move up if the East Bay unites behind the only local nominee. You can vote daily until the polls close on Monday, August 14 at 9 a.m.
