El Charro To Reopen In Walnut Creek
If you loved the Lafayette restaurant that fed generations of locals, it's about to reopen closer to home.
WALNUT CREEK, CA — Fans of El Charro Mexican food who were crushed last year when the restaurant shut down amid the pandemic are about to get an unexpected holiday gift —The Original El Charro 1947 is expected to open in Walnut Creek by the end of the year, according to Diablo Magazine.
El Charro had been serving families for more than 70 years at its Mt. Diablo Boulevard restaurant in Lafayette.
The new restaurant will have the same treasured recipes passed down through the years, along with some additions from Maria Maria. El Charro is merging with Maria Maria at 1470 N. Broadway.
