Political Cartoonists Walk the Edge

Pulitzer Prize winning cartoonist Mark Fiore and nationally syndicated cartoonist Keith Knight will be at the Walnut Creek Library for a panel discussion about social satire and current events in the library’s Oak View Room. Fiore and Knight have distinctive approaches to social satire and each uses a different medium to express himself.

The Bay Area’s Mark Fiore creates animated political cartoons that have appeared on the San Francisco Chronicle’s Web site SFGate.com for more than ten years. In 2010 Fiore became the first Internet animator to win the Pulitzer Prize for political humor.

Los Angeles-based Keith Knight is many things to many people – rapper, social activist, father, educator, and gentleman cartoonist, to name a few. He is the multi-award-winning creator of three popular comic strips: the daily strip The Knight Life; the weekly editorial single-panel (th)ink; and the weekly, semi-autobiographical The K Chronicles.
