Beginning this fall, a new route will be added to the public art walking tour schedule. Bedford Gallery Docents will be offering guided art tours of the new downtown library on the Second Saturday of each month. The library houses thirty-nine works of art that were purchased or commissioned through the city's public art program including a Christian Moeller's signature sculpture Shhh… A Portrait in 12 Volumes of Gray.
Also on view are eleven magnificent paintings donated by Jan and Mary Ann Beekhuis whose collection of Dutch Impressionism was recently highlighted at the Bedford Gallery.
The first scheduled library tour will be offered Saturday, October 9 at 11am. The cost is $5 and includes a pass to visit Bedford Gallery. Special group tours are also available by reservation for groups of 15 or more. Call (925) 295-1417 to make a reservation. The Library Art Guide is available at the Information desk for a self-guided tour.
