Sugi Yoga is yoga anyone can do. It is 'comfort-based' yoga. It leaves you feeling energized and flexible, not sweaty and worn-out. Pair it with the beauty and serenity of the Ruth Bancroft Garden and you have something really special. Each session will begin with a relaxation and warm up. We will spend time transitioning through postures with a focus on your breathing and culminating with a meditation. Each student should bring their own mat and water, as well as any other items that will help with comfort including a sitting pillow. These sessions will be held outdoors in various locations around The Garden.
The instructor, Jan, is a naturalist, yoga teacher and avid hiker who has explored the Contra Costa and Alameda county parks and open space trails for 30 years. She is also an active Ruth Bancroft Docent and volunteer.
