Without a vision for our “calling”, we have little motivation to push for goals that are not immediate within reach. Unfortunately, we have been taught to think of who we are and what we do as unrelated aspects of life.
VOCA is a workshop that equips high school students with the vision, excitement, experience, and tools to think about their life direction as a an expression of who they are meant to be!
With comedy and games, high school students consider the direction for their lives – perhaps for the first time! Students explore the difference between a “job” and a true vocation or “calling” that they feel passionate
about – enough to work for it!
VOCA arranges interviews with helpful adults in the very fields students have an interest!
This allows them to have a conversation with a person
who can bring a realistic perspective to the student’s potential direction.
Students also take proven tests that profile their personality and vocational interests. We discuss test findings and the surprises or questions they raise. Our focus is on helping each student focus on their potential direction in a way that motivates and inspires them.
From all this, students create their own personal profile to identify their passions, strengths, and direction to explore.
