A family shop combines operations with a Walnut Creek-based independent store, which will honor service histories and warranties.
WALNUT CREEK, CA — When Clayton Bikes announced it would close its storefront and combine operations with sister store, customers wanted to know who to turn to for tune-ups, worn chains, and new brake pads.
The answer is that Clayton Bikes moved staff and mechanics Encina Bikes in Walnut Creek.
"John, Andy, and the entire Clayton Bikes crew are moving to Encina Bikes at 2901 Ygnacio Valley Road in Walnut Creek," which the announcement described as a 10-minute drive away.

Owners said they decided to consolidate overhead and focus operations on service.
Encina Bikes will incorporate Clayton Bikes’ operations and honor all service histories and active warranties, according to the announcement on Facebook.

The shop listed Sept. 3 as its final day for repairs and asked customers to collect bikes undergoing service by that date.
Clayton Bikes also announced a liquidation sale offering 50 percent off all BMX and skate parts and accessories, along with discounts on items in clearance bins.
