Mt. Diablo Fire Extinguished
Smoke from the fire added even more haze to East Bay skies.

WALNUT CREEK, CA — Firefighters swiftly attacked a brush fire on Mt. Diablo in Contra Costa County Thursday afternoon, holding the flames to just 4.2 acres. The blaze was reported at Summit Road in Mt. Diablo State Park at about 3:30 p.m.
An air attack using fire retardant and water drops helped to halt the flames. Bulldozers were used to cut a fire line. Many assets were released by nightfall.
No homes were ever threatened although, for a time, a radio repeater site which boosts radio signals was endangered. No injuries have been reported.
